Analysis Of Ray Anderson Inc., With The Help Of Carpets...

In 1973, Ray Anderson founded Interface Inc., with the help of Carpets International Plc. (CI), when his former carpet employer decided to pass on the strategic opportunity involving flexible floorcoverings for modern offices and companies. In 1994, Mr. Anderson shifted the company’s strategy with the hope to redirect industrial practices to focus on sustainability while continuing to be a profitable business. This initiative was started with â€Å"Mission Zero.† â€Å"Mission Zero† was a challenge as well as a goal set forth by founder Ray Anderson to have Interface, Inc. be at net-zero environmental impact by 2020. Since then this mission has been modified to â€Å"becoming restorative through the power of influence.† With this mission in mind,†¦show more content†¦for various portions of the business. Interface Inc. is a carpet company, and although they built InterfaceRAISE based on the successes they had in changing their company to a sustainable and environmentally friendly business in a petroleum based industry, they don’t allow much growth outside of helping the manufacturing industry. As mentioned before, InterfaceRAISE utilizes the successes and failures of Interface’s path to sustainability as examples to help consult other companies on their path to sustainability. In addition, they only have one part-time employee and three full-time employees in this division to build it to the $5 million business in five years. They could tap 20 â€Å"peer experts† from other divisions of Interface; however, these experts can only speak to Interface’s experiences with sustainability. Interface’s experience, although valuable, is traditionally only useful when consulting with other manufacturing companies. This leads to the second main problem: who is the target market? The middle-market approach casts a wide net into company size and industries. Is there, or was there, a plan of who to start helping first? The manufacturing industry is very large and most likely where they started when approaching the sustainability consulting, but where do they want to go from there? In the case it mentioned that â€Å"InterfaceRAISE’s customers ranged in size from $30 million to $400 billion in revenues, and hailed from a wideShow MoreRelatedAnalysis Of Ray C. Determination Essay example - 1037 Words

Determination In â€Å"The Glass Castle† we see many different possibilities pertaining to Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. We see the father, Rex and one of the daughters, Maureen, who fall victim to Maslow. Then there’s Jeanette and the mother, Rose Mary who have both seemed to achieve self-actualization regardless of their hardships. Traditionally, Maslow’s Hierarchy is thought to be achieved by working up from the bottom of the pyramid to get to the top. However, in â€Å"The Glass Castle† this is not particularly true. All the characters mentioned in this essay lacked safety and security, love and belonging, and psychological needs at some point during the novel. How they handled this though varies. â€Å"The Glass Castle† gives you a different view on†¦show more content†¦Ã¢â‚¬Å"If she’s not, she should be,† he said. â€Å"She’s gone nuts.† (Walls 275) Not soon after, the mother kicks Maureen out, and Maureen ends up s tabbing her. Maureen is sent to a mental institution for a year then takes off to California. Unlike her father and sister Jeanette shows us that it is capable to reach your full potential regardless of what you have gone through. Even through the hardships of her childhood Jeanette is set on moving to New York with Lori and becoming a reporter. By putting her past aside she is able to achieve this and finally reaches her full potential. â€Å"I still went into the office in the city once a week, but this was where John and I lived and worked, our home—the first house I’d ever owned. Mom and Lori admired the wide planked floorboards, the big fireplaces, and the ceiling beams made from locust posts, with gouge marks from the ax that had felled them.† Unlike any of the houses she lived in as a child, her current home goes above and beyond. If you compare Jeannette to her sister Maureen it’s clear that becoming all that you can be depends solely on yourself. Maureen went through the same experiences as Jeanette, yet Jeanette is the one who decides to do something with her life, while Maureen continues to let her life be the same as it always was. The last character we see achieve self-actualization is the mother, Rose Mary. Throughout the book Rose Mary is constantly picking out positive from the negative. Economic Issue and Unemployment in Australia-Samples for Students

Question: Discuss who is responsible for unemployment in Australia? Why? Answer: The essay deals with the raging topic of unemployment in Australia that has left an impact n thousands. It focuses on the economic issues which has rendered impossible for the affordability of basic life sustaining things. Unemployment in Australia has long been a crisis and has impacted the collective well-being of the people. The essay will have four paragraphs focusing on the role of government in reducing unemployment, solution to unemployment and its social interventions, scenarios of being unemployed its plausible interventions and the three pieces of information that I would gather as a social worker before providing employment to someone. The government is responsible for addressing the long-term unemployment because it is the authority of the government to ensure that the people of the country is getting access to adequate jobs and it is not being merely swept away by immigrants. In Australia, a large number of immigrants arrive via 457 visa. This has been the cause of huge concern to almost one third of the Australians. This has been responsible for creating a major job crunch in Australia. as per statistics the rate of unemployment rate has grown by 730,000 the positions being primarily filled by 6000,00 migrants (Carvalho, 2015). Though Australia boasts of a very diverse workforce it as no doubt greatly contributed to the perennial problem of unemployment. The immigrants bring labor and talent into the country but also steal a number of jobs from the talent youth of the country. Australian government has contribute very little to incline the skilled migration program so as to ensure benefits to the Australians the growing frustrations of the Australians due to failure arranging for a suitable job for a suitable job has been accentuating year after year (Gregory Smith, 2016). The lower rate of job creation comparing to the arrival of 775% of highly educated refugees in Australia has resulted in the birth of long unemployment queues with a large number of people settling for work for dole (Carvalho, 2015). The population pursuing this option is composed of aged people, single parents, young people and people with physical disabilities. Government has also failed to find jobs for all the people who completed wo rk for the dole therefore resulting in only 11.7% actually possessing a job. This has resulted in the job seekers losing connection with the labor market which is a utmost necessity for fetching a job. Research evidence presented in video clip and its assistance in social work A political reporter named James Glenday produced a formal report in collaboration with Micahel Atkin that inferred about the creation of work for dole as a possible solution to assist unemployment. Work for dole is a welfare policy in Australia that was designed to assist the unemployed people in their search for jobs (Crowe Butterworth, 2016). It becomes the responsible for the government to provide funding for the purpose of the unemployed people in the hope of improving the employment rate. It is a sort of sustainable employment program for the unemployed people in which they benefit the community in a way or the other. It assists in social work interventions by reducing temporarily the rate of unemployment and helping the unemployed people develop new skills and talent. Additionally it fetched worker in the field of community services for instance in community halls and other community based organization that will provide a number of benefits to the community (Payne, 2015). Scenario of being unemployed and interventions to reduced unemployment In being unemployed for long the Australian youths are repeatedly facing threats to their physical and mental well-being. The sense of depravity has seeped deep into them and many youths currently are even finding it difficult to afford for clothes befitting for job interviews. Long term unemployment has also generated in illness and disabilities, lack of motivation amongst the majority of Australians. The overall job scenario has further aggravated in Australia due to lack of new job creation, settling of skilled immigrants, unemployed people from indigenous background and the flattening of economy in Australia is remarkable (Frasquilho et al., 2016). A social worker could implement a number of strategies like creating campaigns that would demand for a considerable reduction in immigration, work sharing and providing opportunities to the poorer population. This would assist the unemployed section of the population to develop work skills and abilities that would help them in coming a cross new jobs. It is also the responsibility of the social workers to create vocational training and scope for education for people who are from low income households. This would generate in spreading awareness about the evils of unemployment amongst people who are still in dark about it. Three pieces of information before providing employment The pieces of information would be their field of interest and relevant skills that they have acquired. Gathering this information would help me in locating them properly so that they can be the most productive without occurrence of errors. The second information would be about their past work experiences if any and his/her views on the current scenario of unemployment. Acquiring opinions and evaluation of workers is necessary in the domain of social work (Frasquilho et al., 2016). It would prevent the faulty placement of workers and a considerable delay in the proper completion of works. The last one would be their educational qualification to decide their job role in the community. For instance somebody with an idea regarding social work or sociology would be best suited in the community relief plan while people with knowledge of geography can be placed in the tourism sector (Lawrence, 2016). This would both benefit the individual and community and help in developing relevant skill s for their jobs. From the above discussion it can be sated that the government of Australia needs to identity the root cause of unemployment in Australia and provide solutions to the issue of immigrants. One can firmly assert that unemployment has also disturbed the overall well-being of the people who have only been invested in community works or work for dole. In this scenario, the social workers should also play an active role in reducing the steady growth of unemployment and providing an all exclusive care to the people. Reference list: Carvalho, P. Random Act of Kindness free essay sample

Random Acts of Kindness For our Random act of Kindness project we decided to surprise a teacher with flowers, candy, and pictures of her favorite animals. We chose Mrs. Adams because we all like her as a teacher and she was recently going through a hard time. I brought her some flowers, purchased some of favorite candy, and drew pictures of her favorite animals. During advisory we placed the gifts right by her door and knocked on her door. We then ran away and left the gifts as a surprise. Who wouldn’t be happy if they opened the door and found free gifts? We didn’t get to see her initial reaction, but we did know she liked them. The thrill of trying to run away before Mrs. Adams saw was a very fun feeling. After school Mrs. Adams talked to one of our friends Kathryn and said she love the flowers and made a day a lot better.
