The more and more of Thoreau I read, the more I am better able to witness his style of writing. With that said, I am building a level of respect his style as it came off almost as idiocy at first. In his writings in Walden, I often caught myself re-reading paragraphs and sentences to get a cle arr understanding of what his invention is. While yes, I got the basic contiguity down, but, in Walden, Thoreau uses a lot of long and complex paragraphs that are often times filled with metaphors, and oxymorons. In addition to simply of that, those same complex oxymoronic sentences are often supported by sarcasm and understatements. I have developed a medicative conclusion that Thoreau is repugn the reader to meet him in the heart and soul to better understand his writings. I believe this is more-so the case in Walden than probably any of his other works. While yes, I am praising Thoreau (even though I know I am not being asked to do so), I feel that he wrote Walden to b e a difficult read on enjoyment. I feel that his style and attitude used writing Walden goes forthwith hand in hand with the purpose of Walden. In respect, Thoreau is gainsay the reader to put cause into reading Walden and try to understand his purpose.

While many, yes, will give up, it is the person who puts forth the sweat and dedicates the time and effort to understand that will harvest the purpose he is portraying. I feel that at the time, society as a whole took everything for granite and was too worried about keep a luxurious a la mode life. Thoreau knew this and wrote this level book for the ones who were willing to put all aside, for it was them who deserved ! to make headway from what Thoreau had to say. Thoreau says (pg. 1919-1920) I know of no more encouraging particular than the true ability of man to elevate his life by a conscious endeavor.
